Oskar Schlemmer is considered one of the first developers of wearables, not only in his most known work The Triadic Ballet, but also in his investigation while director of the Bauhaus theatre workshop. He aimed to develop new performative movements and used methods the costumes and props to condition the body's movements. This limitation of the body led to new expressive languages. The dancers/performers were motivated to move in different ways and adapted to the constraints of the wearables. The work “Stick Dance” (Fig.1) serves as an inspiration for designing new ways for the performer to interact with the body, the space around him, and the video design.
Using this experiments as a conceptual and visual basis, we transfered the ideia to a wearables project using circus techiniques. Defined by some authors as contemporary circus, is a multiple platform for creation, that is based on circus acting, but opened to create freely on an horizontal base, with music, dance, magic and illusionism, multimedia, and others forms of art that creators will to connect.
